Yoroi to SecondFi — Frequently Asked Questions

What happened to Yoroi?

Yoroi Wallet has become SecondFi. You benefit from a brand new upgraded experience with new features, while keeping the same self-custody foundation you already trust.

At the same time, the Yoroi brand continues independently within the Cardano ecosystem as a DRep (Delegated Representative), supporting governance participation. Your stake pool and DRep ID remain unchanged.

What is changing?

SecondFi expands the Yoroi experience by introducing more ways to use your assets in everyday life. Alongside the wallet features you already know, SecondFi adds multichain support, access to 10,000+ assets, global card-based payments, and expanded features over time.

Rather than replacing your existing experience, SecondFi builds on it — bringing spending, sending, staking, and asset management into one simple, user-controlled platform.

Do I need to create a new wallet?

No. Your existing Yoroi wallet remains exactly the same and will carry over automatically when you update your app.

If you choose to use multichain features, you may need to create an additional wallet within SecondFi to access assets on other networks. This does not affect your existing Yoroi wallet in any way.

What happens if I do not update the app?

If you do not update the Yoroi app, you will not be able to make transactions. If auto-updates are enabled on your device, your app will update to SecondFi automatically. Otherwise, you will need to update it manually from the App Store or Google Play.

Will my wallet carry over automatically?

In most cases, yes — your wallet will carry over automatically when you update the app. However, you should not assume this will always happen. In some cases, you may need to manually restore your wallet using your recovery phrase via the SecondFi mobile app or the SecondFi Chrome extension. This is why we recommend backing up your recovery phrase before updating.

See How to Migrate Your Yoroi Wallet to SecondFi for step-by-step instructions.

Will this update affect my funds?

No. The app update itself does not affect your funds. Your wallet should transition to SecondFi as part of the update, and you will be able to access it as usual.

As a precaution, we recommend backing up your recovery phrase before updating. In the unlikely event that your wallet does not appear after the update, you can use your recovery phrase to restore access via the SecondFi mobile app or the SecondFi Chrome extension.

Are my assets safe?

Yes. You do not need to move your assets. They remain under your control at all times.

Important: If anyone asks you to transfer your assets or share your recovery phrase as part of this transition, it is a scam. SecondFi will never ask you to do this.

I stake my ADA with Yoroi. What changes?

Nothing changes. Your delegated stake, rewards, and settings continue as usual. You can still manage your staking directly through SecondFi.

What happens to my staked ADA?

No change. You remain delegated to the same stake pool unless you choose to change it yourself.

What happens to Yoroi as a DRep?

No change. The Yoroi DRep continues to operate as usual, and you can still participate in Cardano governance through SecondFi.

Do I need to do anything else?

No additional steps are required beyond updating your app and backing up your wallet. Once updated, you can continue using your wallet as usual in SecondFi. If you would like to access assets across multiple networks or use features like global card-based spending, you can enable these within the app at any time.
