Connecting a Hardware Wallet

SecondFi supports connecting a Ledger or Trezor hardware wallet for enhanced security. Your private keys remain on the hardware device at all times.

Watch the video below for a full walkthrough of the connection process.

Before you begin: Make sure your hardware wallet device is powered on and unlocked before starting.

Setting Up a Hardware Wallet for the First Time

If you are setting up SecondFi fresh and have no wallet yet:

  1. On the Welcome screen, tap I already have a wallet.
  2. On the Setup Wallet screen, tap Hardware wallet.
  3. On the Connect device screen, choose your brand — Ledger or Trezor — and your connection method — Bluetooth or USB.
  4. When your device appears in the list, select it and tap Pair device. If Bluetooth gives trouble, tap Try USB instead.

  1. Once paired, follow the on-screen prompts to complete setup.

If you are using a Ledger: You will be prompted to open the relevant blockchain apps on your device. Open the Cardano ADA app first, then proceed with the other required network apps (Base, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana) as shown in the SecondFi app. Follow the confirmation prompts on both your phone and your Ledger device.

If you are using a Trezor: No separate apps are needed. Trezor handles all supported networks from a single interface.

Once setup is complete, tap Go to Dashboard.

Adding a Hardware Wallet to an Existing SecondFi Wallet

If you already have a wallet in SecondFi and want to add your hardware wallet:

  1. Tap the Profile icon in the top-right corner to open Settings.
  2. Tap your wallet name at the top, then open the Wallets screen.
  3. Tap Add wallet, then Connect a hardware wallet.
  4. Choose your brand and connection method, pair your device, and follow the prompts as above.
  5. Tap Go to Dashboard once setup is complete.

Supported Networks

Hardware wallet support covers: Cardano, Base, Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana.

Troubleshooting

  • Device not appearing? Make sure your hardware wallet is powered on, unlocked, and Bluetooth is enabled on your phone. Try toggling Bluetooth off and on.
  • Bluetooth not working? Tap Try USB instead and connect via cable.
  • Ledger app errors? Ensure you have the latest firmware and the required blockchain apps installed on your Ledger device.

Security reminder: Your private keys never leave your hardware device. SecondFi will never ask you to share your recovery phrase or private key.
