Social Login and Your Recovery Phrase
SecondFi allows you to create and access your wallet using your existing social accounts. This method is fast, secure, and removes the need to immediately write down a recovery phrase during setup.
Supported Providers
We support the following social login providers:
- X (formerly Twitter)
- Apple (available on Apple devices only)
How It Works
When you create a wallet using a social login, a recovery phrase is automatically and securely derived from that account.
Because the recovery phrase is linked to your email address, using the same email across different providers will generate the same wallet. For example, if you create a wallet using your Google account, and later sign in using the Email option with that exact same Gmail address, you will access the exact same wallet and the exact same recovery phrase.
Accessing Your Recovery Phrase
Even though you used a social login, you still have a recovery phrase that you can (and should) back up.
- Open the SecondFi app.
- Tap the Profile icon in the top right corner.
- Select Wallet Management.
- Tap Recovery Phrase to view and back up your phrase.
Important: Never share your recovery phrase with anyone. SecondFi staff will never ask for your recovery phrase.
What if I lose access to my social account?
If you lose access to the social account or email address you used to create your wallet, you can still restore your wallet. Simply use your backed-up recovery phrase in the SecondFi app or Chrome extension by selecting Restore an existing wallet on the welcome screen.
